Soapnuts: all natural soap that grows on trees

Here’s an all natural soap that is actually a fruit.  It’s commonly known as the soap nut or soapberry.  This organic cleaner has a myriad of uses including in the dishwasher and the washing machine.  According to LaundryTree.Com, soapnuts get their cleansing power from saponin, a natural cleanser.  Soapnuts can be used as an organic laundry soap, an all natural dishwasher detergent, and some sites even claim they are effective as a home remedy for dandruff.  When used as laundry soap or dishwasher detergent, soapnuts are placed in a reusable cotton bag and then the bag is tossed into the wash.  When washing in cold, soapnuts may be reusable, but can only be used once if used in hot water.   Used soapnuts make great organic garden compost when you’re finished with them.
