Tic Toc…Recycled Wall Clocks
Every home needs 1 or 2 wall clocks, so why not look for ones that tout your green living priorities? The wall clock above is made from the reused chain sprocket of an old bicycle. Each is hand made from recycled landfill parts, and measures approximately 6 inches in diameter. The face of the recycled bicycle clock is made of paper, and it requires 1 AA battery. I found sprocket clocks at Green Home for $64 for a set of 2.
Here’s another recycled clock, known as the Juice Clock. This one is made from recycled HDPE, the same plastic that many laundry soap bottles are made from. The Juice Clock comes in lemon, orange, and grapefruit, and it is available at Re: Modern for $45.
Add either of these clocks to your green home decor, and you’ll have quite a conversation starter.

Recycled Street Sign Products
Need a new mailbox? After last week’s post about how to reduce junk mail, these recycled mailboxes made from street signs are just irresistible, although a bit pricey. They’re individually hand-crafted by artist Boris Baley who actually crafts many recycled household products from street and transit signs, including tables, coasters, switch plate covers, side chairs, and serving platters.
Here are the side chairs. What a modern twist on green home decor! If you’ve ever picked up a street sign, you know how heavy and strong these chairs have to be.
I think these recycled switch plate covers would be great for a green bedroom for a child, especially one with a race car or train theme. At $39.99, the switch covers are a bit more affordable than the other items too. All of these Boris Baley items are available at Green and More.

Droop Lite Recycled Table Lamp
Perk up your green home decor with this droopy table lamp. The “Droop Lite” has a base made from a recycled glass bottle that’s been heated in a kiln to give it that droopy look. Combine this table lamp with a bamboo end table and compact fluorescent light bulbs, and you’ll be on your way to creating a cozy little corner in your green home. The Droop Lite is available at 3R Living.
Want a table lamp that’s a little more formal? These Babette Holland lamps are made with reclaimed and recycled aluminum, and they’re available at Lamps Plus.

Green Furniture or Art?
Is it environmentally friendly furniture or is it art? Perhaps both. This custom-made rocking chair is made from surplus stock of car seat belts, and certified sustainable wood . Clean lines and simple design give this sustainable wood furniture a look that would complement nearly any green home decor.
Made by Atmos, the rocking chair is available in three wood finishes including oak, ebony, and mahogany. You can also choose the color of the seatbelt straps which are stretched across the frame of this rocking chair like webbing. Color choices include red, tan, silver, black, and olive. Atmos makes other styles of sustainable wood furniture including arm chairs and side chairs. I found this eco-friendly chair at Green and More.

Green home decor: recycled picture frames
Here’s a truly creative idea to add to your green home decor, and I bet you’ve never seen one before. It’s a picture frame made from recycled bicycle chains. These recycled picture frames make good use of something otherwise likely to end up in a landfill. They’re available in 4×6 and 5×7 sizes and the pictures are held in by recycled bicycle wheel spokes. These environmentally friendly picture frames are made by Resource Revival, a company that makes useful green home products from bicycles.
The 4×6 and 5×7 recycled photo frames come in sets of two and retail for $55 and $73 respectively. They’re available at Green Home environmental store. What a conversation piece!

Sustainable wood furniture
Living green doesn’t have to mean giving up the beauty and durability of wooden furniture. Many furniture makers are now offering alternatives to traditional wood furniture with green furniture selections made with sustainable woods. Here’s one I found today:
This environmentally friendly dining room table is made by Atlantico. It’s handmade using woods harvested via sustainable forestry practices, and it’s certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to responsible forestry. This table is made without toxic chemicals and preservatives and is finished with only a coat of Danish oil. The table is simple in design and I think it would blend well with any green home decor. I found this green furniture selection at Bluehouse.
