Recycled outdoor hammock

Here’s a relaxing and green addition to any backyard.  Its a recycled hammock made with Envirope, a green alternative to polyester rope.  Envirope is made with recycled plastic soda bottles and has all the UV protective qualities and strength of polyester rope.  Available at Green Feet,  Envirope hammocks come in traditional sizes, or in a family size (5X7 feet) which will hold up to 450 lbs.  According to Green Feet, Envirope is softer than traditional rope, and it’s mildew resistant.  You can hang your outdoor hammock from trees or posts using the included hardware or purchase a separate hammock hanger.  With this recycled outdoor hammock and some environmentally-friendly polywood patio furniture (see previous post), you’ll be on your way to setting up a green outdoor living space for your family to enjoy.

Polywood outdoor furniture

Polywood adirondack chair

Looking for a tree-free alternative to wooden patio furniture? You may want to check out the many polywood varieties popping up in the market. Polywood is a wood-free lumber substitute that is designed to last for years. Polywood furniture is made with high-density plastic. Polywood patio furniture is designed to stand up to tough weather and it is available in many colors, so you don’t have to paint it. It also doesn’t rot or support the bacterial growth common in wooden outdoor furniture. Polywood is not an overlay adhesive type product; it is a solid material that is screwed together just like traditional wooden furniture. Polywood is used to make everything from environmentally friendly picnic tables to complete 5- piece patio sets. Since you’ll likely never have to replace polywood furniture, you’ll do the environment a favor by saving a few trees in the long run.
